    I had the Fractal North as well, before I switched to the Fractal North XL. The smaller Fractal North has some very annoying design flaws which really could've been avoided easily. It doesn't make sense that the space on the front is a little bit too small to fit 3 140mm fans. Couple of centimeters missing. Also it doesn't make sense that there are a few centemeters missing to install a 280mm AiO radiator on top. It can only be installed in the front. Come on, they could've made the case a few centimeters longer and higher to allow much more flexibility for cooling. At least a 280mm radiator on top should be possible in a midi tower. However, for a mid tier computer it's ok, but for this purpose they could've made it even smaller. For a higher end gaming machine it's missing a couple of centimeters as said, so you have to buy the bigger North XL. My Gigabyte 4080 Super didn't fit in at all. The in in the video just fits in, but it blocks the front fans which is not optimal. And try this with a 280mm radiator (which you have to install in the front as said), not possible. In other words: For a higher end gaming machine (or if you planning to upgrade to a higher end machine in the near future), better buy the bigger North XL or you could eventually regret it and buy twice.

    Here are the things to keep in mind when you buy SSD: 1. Buy TLC NAND simple as that. QLC does have HDD speed on Sequential and way more speed on Random. But, the response and indurance is downside. 2. TBW doesn't matter. Say you bought 500GB SSD from Samsung having 300TBW which is very low compared to other competitors. 300TBW/25 years = 12 TBW/1 year and 12TBW/365 days = 33 GB/ day. If you are very simple user then your average daily writes would be 5GB/ day. So, don't worry about TBW much. 3. Buy SSD with DRAM on it. Don't cheap out for HBM SSD. 4. If for desktop then buy good branded PSU with 80 PLUS rating. Most of the devices fail just because of bad PSU. 5. Don't worry much about thermal throttling for Gen 3 SSDs even for Gen 4/5 SSDs brand sticker that comes acts as thermal pad.

I just want to improve render times and real time effects and transitions on Davinci Resolve Studio. I can get 2nd hand RTX 2060 super for about 200€, or 2080 for a bit more. It will be better than a rtx 4060 8gb ? 4060 will cost more than 350€. Rtx 3060ti or 3070 are cheap as well, about 250€. What would you recomend me. Thanks

    Honestly if you are in the creative workspace and do it professionally then you should have the supporting hardware. You are comparing 2 gaming graphics cards that a primarily designed for gaming and some streaming. The drivers aren’t built for this type of work. You would have to show how Quadro and Radeon Pro stack up. A cheap radeon pro or quadro could very easily blow most high end gaming cards out of the water in most creative applications. Also not just talking about video editing. I do cad work on the side as part of my 3d printing business.

    what would be a better setup for editing in resolve. having your fastest nvme as the project drive or having the fastest drive as the cache disk?

    • @billythecat
      @billythecat День тому

      If by project drive you mean where your source is then imo: 1. Sequential speed doesn't matter. 2. Pay attention to random 4K speed. 3. Use the one with better random 4k read speed as the project drive. This will help you scrub through layers of high-quality footage more smoothly or when you do multicam. 4. Use the one with better random 4k write speed as the cache drive. If it happens to be the one in 3., then 3. takes higher priority because in reality, it will be other hardware that bottleneck caching performance.

    • @wassilifranko9700
      @wassilifranko9700 День тому

      @@billythecat thanks for the quick reply! yes, by project drive i meant the source drive. so once the material is cached, does the random read speed of the cache drive have any impact on scrubbing the timeline? i couldn't find any valuable information in the davinci manual on this.

    • @billythecat
      @billythecat День тому

      @@wassilifranko9700 In Fusion, caches (the green segments on the fusion timeline) are stored in the ram and read from there. In the Edit page, caches (the blue segments on the Edit page timeline) are stored in and read from your cache drive. Yes, you could benefit from better read speed here. But your fastest read drive should be used for your source/proxies because most of your timeline won't be cached, this was what I meant when I said 3. takes the priority. However, if you're shopping for a cache drive, and you're looking at random speed vs random write speed, you should focus on random read speed.

    Weirdly, that seems like a PC for me. My current on the go tool PC is a crappy nettop with removable screen. Basically a tablet with one full sized USB port. I would like more ports. And a bit smaller form factor. The added performance is a plus, but not meaningful. Don't need four cores on the things i use it for.

      Troubleshooting things, SSH, reading error codes, programming EEPROMs. Using gadgets that don't like android. A small box of interface tools and this thing would be able to do so very much. And weight far less than a full blown laptop. I may be too deep into integrating a tiny pc into my box of adapters though. With a 7 inch screen. Not pocketable though so would not make this redundant. I will need to think about this.

    Could be wrong, but isnt a 2tb drive faster than the 1tb nit only because it has double the dram, but also physically twice as many chips

    On the I think you should try on the air cooler with the double fins use two fans on the outside set to pull air through it and leave the space between the fins open to let air in and retest it. Because I think you are pushing hot air off one and onto the other side.

    Hi. Great channel!!! My question is for a Lightroom and Da Vinci user, the upgraded version ends up costing the same as a m2 Mac studio max. Which would be better for my workflow. Thanks.
